… Traditional family villa on the outskirts of Lourmarin …
Modern touches mixed in with old-style Provence make this ideal for relaxed family holidays.
No doubt you will enjoy staying in this charming house and appreciate its leafy surroundings. The property has a very large garden (5,000m2) that features pines, oaks, cypresses and olive trees, filled with the familiar chirp of cicadas and crickets chirp in the heat of the summer season.
If the Provencal sun gets too hot, dive into the cool swimming pool (5m x 10m) glimmering in the sun. Then refreshed, you might rest under the shade of the mature cedar trees, or stretch out and sun bathe. Enjoy the relaxing view over the green bushes and trees all around and as far as the eye can see, because the pool is at a slightly higher elevation than the house and the rest of the garden. The terraced garden is set on various levels with little lanes and stairs between them. On one of these, the children will be able to play on the swing or trampoline. If you are feeling energetic, you could try some "ring exercises" or, down another path, you can play table tennis with your friends. In yet another area of the garden, benches will welcome you and if you are fond of books you will appreciate reading there in the shade and silence, under the trees.
In the mornings, when the village is quiet and cool, take a slow five-minute walk to buy your baguettes or croissants at the local boulangerie. The house is just on the outskirts of the village and overlooks it as well as its castle, church etc. When the trees have lost their leaves in winter, the view of this iconic skyline is tremendous.
As for the house itself, it offers all the modern conveniences including air-conditioning. It is comfortable and charming to look at and to live in, with its old authentic furniture mixed with more contemporary details and colours to make it bright and pleasant. It is full of books and magazines; no doubt you will always find a way to spend your spare time there.
Outside the house, under the oaks and a large white tent called "abrifloe" there's a special place where you can have your meals, and nearby, a stone barbecue where you can cook, grill and so forth if you wish to. Very pleasant indeed!
