… Stunning villa-like house in the heart of Lourmarin …
With a large pool set in a private garden, and air-conditioning inside, this is arguably one of the best village houses to rent in Lourmarin.
We are thrilled to offer this charming old village house, which is surprisingly spacious and can accommodate eight people comfortably. It is set on a quiet road on the outer edge of the village, with free public parking close by. Step out the front door into the narrow cobbled streets of Lourmarin with its excellent restaurants, cafes and boutique shops, as well as the outstanding market on Fridays.
The property has been respectfully restored to retain its original character, but has been finished to a high standard with contemporary comforts like wi-fi throughout (including in the garden!), air conditioning, high-quality beds and luxury bathrooms.
The accommodation is set over three floors, with most of the rooms looking out over the pool and garden. The air-conditioned ground floor is all open-plan and perfect for entertaining and socialising. As you enter the house, you’ll find a modern kitchen equipped with oven, four-ring cooker, dishwasher and fridge-freezer.
From the kitchen this large space extends to the dining area with an eight-seater table alongside a huge picture window that you will want throw open on Summer evenings. For the cooler months, there is a cosy sitting room through an arch, with comfy sofas and a working stone fireplace, or curl up in the small reading nook at the back of the house. Also on the ground floor is a guest WC.
On the next level up, you will find the TV lounge with an L-shaped sofa and smart TV/DVD with Orange TV and Netflix.
Keep going up the curved stone staircase to find the four double bedrooms and two bathrooms, set over two split-level floors. The house sleeps eight adults, and up to 10 if there are young children.
The air-conditioned master bedroom is on the middle floor, with a 1.8m-wide (6ft) bed. A waist-high wall separates the sleeping area from its adjoining bathroom, which has a walk-in shower, twin basins and WC.
Also on the middle floor is the second bedroom, which has a 1.4m-wide (4.6ft) double bed and gorgeous outlook onto the surrounding countryside. The large family bathroom is a half-level up, and features a luxurious bath, walk-in shower, double basins, and separate WC.
The third bedroom can be configured as two singles or the beds can be connected together to form a 1.8m-wide (6ft) double bed. On the top level of the house is a large air-conditioned bedroom with a 1.8m-wide (6ft) double bed. There is also a mezzanine sleeping area here, which has a long mattress and a pillow at each end, giving you the option of accommodating two young children sleeping head-to-toe. This area is accessed via three small steps and has a protective rail.
Heading outside, the pool measures 8.5m x 4.5m (28 x 15ft), and is 1.7m deep, with steps at one end. There is a small area of lawn around the pool, and sunloungers are provided if you want to brave the summer sun. Alternatively, relax under the UVA/B-protected shade of the large pergola that accommodates an outside dining table.
Use the Weber for lovely late evening barbecues and dine al fresco under the stars. Under the main living area of the house there is a summer kitchen with fridge, sink and dishwasher, as well as a WC and clothes washing machine. There is also an outside shower.
Finally, there is a large, secure store-room with a separate entrance off the street, which is perfect for bicycles and prams.

From the calendar, please select the dates you're interested in. The change-over day for this property is Saturday. Bookings will be taken for a week (7 nights) at a time in high season. Please choose the NIGHTS you will be staying, ie Saturday to the following Friday night (you'll check out on the morning after your last night).

To reserve the dates, we require a 50% deposit, with the balance to be paid 30 days prior to your check-in date. By paying the deposit, you are agreeing to our Terms and Conditions.
We also ask for a €500 security deposit, payable with the final balance payment (or in cash on arrival by prior arrangement), which will be returned to you within 7 days if the property is vacated in good order at check-out.

First, the house is immaculately clean, comfortable, and well-equipped (barring a few kitchen tools and table linens which, I am told, were added). The common areas and the bedrooms are spacious and bright. The full bathrooms are very large and very nicely appointed. Considering the number of people the home can accommodate, there is adequate space to have privacy and multiple areas to socialize. We spent much of our time outdoors, lounging around the pristine pool and eating meals at the large table near the pool. The downstairs kitchen and toilet were especially helpful for this location. We enjoy cooking and found the kitchen a very inviting place to prepare our feasts! The cupboards are filled with very nice dishes and glasses for the crowd you might invite to your feast, too. The long table upstairs was great for our meals (as well as our work—I set up my laptop there for writing and was very inspired!). The AC was adequate and the gorgeous fireplace certainly encourages us to return in the colder months.
Second, the location of the home—on the main street through the village—is ideal to soak up village life but it is also located at the quiet end of the street so it is easy to relax and sleep soundly. One can quite literally roll out of bed and be at the local Boulangerie purchasing croissants before the table is set. A Nespresso machine makes great espressos in your own vacation home to accompany your bakery goods. Or, a wee bit further is Café Gaby and several other cafés where you will find goods to quench your morning thirst and fortify you for your day’s adventure (and provide you with the best people watching in the area!).
Third, there are plenty of things to do in Lourmarin once you can wrench yourself away from the pool. Consider the chateau, shopping, gallery hopping, a tour of the village filled with its fascinating history, or winetasting—all within walking distance. The Friday morning market is considered the best in the area and, during the summer months, the Tuesday evening market is a real treat. (Markets in neighboring villages are also wonderful.)
Venture a little further in your car and there is a wealth of beauty and sight-seeing to satisfy even the toughest-to-please guests. Lourmarin is perfectly located to act as your hub during vacation.
Finally, Walter, the caretaker, ensures that all your needs are met. He is a tremendous asset!
Lourmarin captured our hearts and the Maison de Savornin is my top choice for a large family or group of friends. We loved it and continue to recommend it!
