… 17th century 'maison de village' with private terrace …
This charming village house is in a peaceful part of central Lourmarin while having all the village's facilities and social life on the doorstep.
La Chouette is a comfortable family home that has all the 'mod cons' while retaining interesting and charming features. Situated in a quiet location it is just seconds from the buzz and facilities of one of France's most beautiful villages.
The house is on three levels. There is an entrance hall at street level where outdoor shoes and jackets can be stored. Stairs then lead up to the three living areas of the house; the staircases on each level have handrails.
On the first floor you’ll find the kitchen, dining room and reading nook. Through this pretty little reading area, which is curtained off from the dining room, you can access a cute mezzanine platform with sleeping accommodation (bed 200x125cm) that could prove useful for an overnight guest.
There’s a rear bedroom on this floor, and while it has no view it’s well ventilated via a window, making it the coolest one in summer! Two other bedrooms and a bathroom with large shower are located on the third floor.
The owner prefers to limit the number of guests to four, and as a result is offering this property at very reasonable rates. The accommodation will feel very spacious for a small group – during the day you'll be able to spread out across the reading nook, living room, kitchen and private patio. Since there are effectively four separate bedrooms (including the mezzanine), this house is perfect for four single friends.
There’s a full bathroom on the first floor, which houses a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.
The kitchen is well equipped for you to experiment with some Provençal cooking or you can BBQ on the sun terrace, using herbs from our pots.
You’ll find a comfy lounge on the second level, which leads on to the terrace. This private, pot-planted area is equipped with table and chairs for outside eating. There is also a charcoal fired BBQ unit. (Guests are respectfully asked not to smoke within the confines of the house but may feel free to do so on the terrace.)
As for car parking, you can use one of several free parking areas just minutes from the apartment.

Thank you for renting our home in Provence! We'd love to hear about your stay at La Chouette. Please give us feedback about your holiday - tell us what you liked about the property, what can be improved on, and share anything that you think would be useful for our future guests to know.
The surrounding hilltop villages and countryside are well worth a visit, Gordes in particular (get there early if you are going on market day). However, we decided we did extremely well to have chosen the prettiest village by far in the area and we spent most of our time sitting in the cafes watching the world go by and enjoying evening strolls exploring the side streets after a delicious and relaxing meal in one of the many local restaurants. We would highly recommend Jim & Linda's charming house and are very much looking forward to a return trip although we would like to keep Loumarin our little secret!!
