DINING

Bakeries (boulangeries/pâtisseries)

Le Comptoir d'Édouard
Rue du Temple
84160 Lourmarin
Tel : 04 90 68 62 29

Some people prefer the breads from this bakery and others prefer the breads from the other bakery--try them both to see what your preference is.  Prepared foods such as quiche and pâté are also available here.  This is a relatively new bakery that we don't know as well as the other, so expect a more detailed report later.

Boulangerie Pâtisserie Riquier
Rue Henri de Savornin
84160 Lourmarin
Tel : 04 90 68 00 94

We prefer the bread and croissants from this bakery, but other people prefer those from the other bakery.  Our daughter loves the pain au miel and the olive oil cookies.  The desserts are excellent.

Henri Tomas
7-9 rue de la République
84480 Bonnieux
Tel: 04 90 75 85 52

The huge bowls of café crème and hot chocolate are worth a drive to Bonnieux any time.  The Galette Provençal, a sweet pastry with praline and almond cream and hints of orange, is simply to die for.  A conversation with the proprietor Monsieur Thomas, a colorful character with a twinkle in his eye and an infectious smile, will enhance the experience of visiting his tiny space.  A stop here is good starting place for a visit to the Musée de la Boulangerie, which is across the street.  Open 7 AM to 12:45 PM and 3 to 7:30 PM.  Closed on Mondays in September through June.  Closed for one week in October and two weeks in February.
